Max Theunissen

Max is a Vice President on the EU Transaction Team with nearly a decade of private equity experience. He began his career at Gilde Equity Management on their investment team and later joined IceLake Capital. In both roles, he partnered with founders and business owners to scale mid-market companies, originating proprietary investments and supporting portfolio growth initiatives. He holds dual master’s degrees in Financial Economics and Financial Law and bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Law, all from Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Max grew up in a small Dutch town, so idyllic that most postcards from the Netherlands feature the tulip fields near his home… and if that wasn’t Dutch enough, his first summer job was peeling bulbs for the local farm. He now lives in Amsterdam with his partner, Emma, and their two daughters. Although his home may soon double as an insect habitat thanks to his oldest bringing home stick insects from school, easily the frontrunner for “strangest pet” at MiddleGround. He’s also campaigning for a dachshund, though his youngest daughter is still holding out for a tiger. Until those negotiations are settled, you can usually find Max at his favorite gelato shop that’s only steps from his house…  his family’s move across town may or may not have been inspired by its location.
