Sean Spero is a Vice President on our Business Development team. He joins our growing list of Tar Heel alumni (GO HEELS!), having graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Economics. Sean began his career within Cisco’s finance and leadership development program (LIFT). There, his passion for M&A was ignited, and he joined the Corporate Development team at Syneos Health where he executed a variety of M&A transactions in the life sciences industry. Most recently, Sean was a VP of Business Development at Plexus Capital, a lower middle market SBIC fund, where he focused on new deal sourcing and relationship building in support of the firm’s credit-led independent sponsor strategy.
Though originally from South Florida, Sean’s family relocated to North Carolina when he was young. Once he got his first taste of a real winter, he quickly developed a passion for ice hockey…and we’re not talking casual pickup games at a local rink – after spending four years at a boarding school in upstate New York, he went on to play junior and semi-pro hockey in various leagues throughout New England and Canada (and yes, believe it or not, he still has all his teeth intact!). When Sean isn’t dropping the gloves, you’ll likely find him in full Zen mode exercising, journaling, meditating, or (our most favorite) listening to experimental underground ambient music while cuddled up with his Pitbull, Cash (aka C.R.E.A.M.).
