Damon Cameron is a Vice President of Investor Relations. After graduating with an Economics and Commerce degree from Hampden-Sydney College, Damon dove headfirst into the investment world. He got his start in New York at Ledgemont Capital, a boutique merchant bank combining traditional investment banking with principal investing, targeting growth stage Technology, Media and Telecom companies. After 3 years as an Analyst, Damon then transitioned into the start-up space, working with a green-technology waste company with the goal of reducing waste generation and eliminating landfill usage, all while creating renewable fuel. After that company went public, Damon then spent a decade working at a family office, BV Advisory Partners, focused on advising, investing, and operating lower-middle market companies in the TMT and Healthcare space. Since BV took an owner/operator approach, Damon wore many hats at a long list of portfolio companies, including roles in business development, marketing, and sales.
Though he’s originally from New Jersey, Damon’s wife has done everything in her power to get him to support Kentucky sports (necessary for fitting in with our office), as her father played basketball at UK. The first four years of their relationship were long-distance between New York and Kentucky, so Lexington has felt like a second home to him over the last decade. After seeing a LinkedIn post from MiddleGround, he jumped at the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone: join the PE world and find a way to raise his two kids in the Bluegrass state. Normally, it’d be tough to move to a new city, but Damon moved over 10x as a kid and is very comfortable being the new kid on the block. Soon everyone in Lexington will be vying for dinner party invites to try his FAMOUS pasta with vodka sauce… (shhh… the “famous” recipe is straight from Ina Garten). Nowadays when he’s not cooking or chasing around his kids, you can find Damon researching random facts through his 27+ open Google tabs – he’d be an amazing trivia partner!
