Position Summary

The Valuation Accountant is based in Lexington, KY and reports up to the CFO. The Valuation Accountant has responsibility for tracking financial performance of the portfolio companies and preparing reports on portfolio and fund performance, including developing and managing the process of valuing the fund assets in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for the purposes of financial reporting.

Job Responsibilities

Working with the portfolio company CFOs, Investment Team, Operations Team and staff to track PF Adjusted EBITDA and net debt levels monthly, identifying quality of earnings level detail for use in the valuation of the performance of the assets
Management of quarterly financial statements for the funds and its investments, including IRR calculations
Preparing and updating materials (internal and external), as requested, concerning the value of the fund’s investments
Providing back up data for the valuation of the fund investments in a process that can be readily accessed
Calculating standard industry measures for regular reporting for the fund investments
Coordination with third party valuation firms, as required
Act as a consultant for GAAP accounting related matters for the firm
Join and participate in monthly financial call for each of the portfolio companies
Assists in preparing and presenting results of our analysis in a clear and concise manner
Working with the Investor Relations team to prepare adhoc reports for investors
Support investor due diligence (“DDQs”) related to portfolio company statistics and performance during fundraising preparation and active fundraising periods
Keeping external databases updated with the performance of the firm’s funds and the fund investments

Qualifications:

5+ years as an Accountant
Superior attention to detail and analytical skills
Superior communication skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or relevant field of study
CPA or CFA not required; Big Four financial accounting strongly preferred
Proficiency with direct investment operations, accounting, and transaction servicing
Ability to work independently and as a part of a small team
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and Excel
Strong organizational skills and able to manage to a deadline
Self-motivator with the ability to identify priorities and execute with minimal to no assistance
Focused on process adherence/process improvement tendencies
Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments, and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment
